The Hafez Institute for Iranic Linguistic Heritage (IILH) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to both the promotion of the Persian language and the revitalization and preservation of other Iranic languages and dialects. The Persian language, considered the lingua franca of Iran, has been utilized for thousands of years as a language of poetry and scholarship, but lacks modern and accessible educational resources. This makes it more difficult for learners to fully immerse themselves in Persian literary and intellectual tradition.
Additionally, numerous regional languages such as Gilaki, Talysh and Mazandarani are likewise beautiful Iranian languages with rich history, but are seldom documented and their usage in their communities is in rapid decline, which could put them at risk of endangerment.
In response to these challenges, the Institute for Iranic Linguistic Heritage was founded, and seeks to bring together students, scholars and communities to guard the linguistic diversity of Iranic society, creating education resources for all to access for free. Through our newly published resources, our mission is to preserve and safeguard these languages to uphold centuries of cultural and linguistic heritage.
Xavier Misri is the founder and director of the Hafez Institute for Iranic Linguistic Heritage. His work on the Persian language and other Iranic languages was made in order to promote and revitalize Iranic culture and languages. He has authored all pages on the website, unless otherwise stated.
